The Dorion Family Pediatric Center Breaks Ground

In the 1970s Dottie started working with a group of dedicated volunteers to get a non-profit Hospice built in Jacksonville, FL. These determined people worked tirelessly with legislative, medical, and hometown officials to get the first version of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida established. In 2021, Dottie and her husband of 63 years, Dr. George Dorion, decided, shortly before his passing, to again enter the ring:  the goal this time was to provide funding for a Pediatric Hospice Home to provide respite for children and their families. The groundbreaking for The Dorion Family Pediatric Center was January 27, 2025 and it is believed construction will be swift. There is an urgent need to provide assistance to the families and caregivers of children with terminal or chronic illnesses. The children want to be in a safe environment with fun (adapted) normal activities with other children, while the caregivers need occasional relief from 24/7 care.  For further information or to help: 904.886.3883.
